Section 157 Entry 0001. Date: 2005 July 27 Wednesday.

Back in January, I broke a tooth while eating spaghetti. A dentist put in a temporary filling and told me to come back after I'd dealt with my "other issues" and he would put in a crown. The "other issues" (chemotherapy and radiation therapy) having been successfully dealt with, today I showed up to get started on the crown.

The first step was to take X-rays, check my teeth and clean off the tartar. This first step cost NZ $105. I'm pleased to say that I've come through chemotherapy okay without any new cavities.

The next step, which will be taken next week, will be for the broken tooth to be trimmed down and for, I think, some kind of mold to be made (I vaguely heard something like "take an impression of the tooth" or something like that. And to put in a temporary crown.

I then show up at a dental lab where they will match the color of the crown they are going to make with the color of my existing teeth. And, two weeks or so after the tooth gets trimmed to shape, I go back to the dentist to get the crown put in position.

This is new stuff for me because I haven't had very much dental work done, so far. In fact, I think that all I have in my mouth is three fillings on the lower left toward the back of the mouth, one of those fillings being the temporary one.
