2005 December 20: having just finished proofreading my very long fantasy novel, TO FIND AND WAKE THE DREAMER, I added a fairly long piece (over 7,000 words) on the subject of proofreading. This contains a number of hints, tips and suggestions concerning the art of proofreading.
2004 March 04, 05: added a piece about how to get story ideas - Getting Story Ideas From Real Life.
2004 March 03: added a piece on writing original stories - writing original stories.
2003 August 21: did a bit of work on cleaning up the interface. Still more to do - Rome wasn't built in a day.
2003 July 13: realized that my characters page was shamefully skimpy so rewrote it to beef it up - this page is about how to create and use characters in fiction, and now it shows how an impulse criminal called Ratbag Chops might interact with his police officer girlfriend Charlotte and a coldly controlled mastermind criminal called, perhaps, Mike.
2003 June 26: added a few brief comments on writing poetry.
2003 March 17: after having been distracted for the longest time by other things (George Bush and so forth) I finally got round to adding a new if-all-else-fails fingerexercises page, called write, which might help with the problem of writer's block. If none of this helps, you could try reading the new story added to the site today, On the Wings of a Cockroach Jozanna Yu, poet, wakes up and finds she's been turned into a cockroach. Again. And she thinks she knows who's responsible. In fact, there's only one suspect - boyfriend Gregor Samsa. A story about being a poet and writing poetry - a story about creative writing. This story includes a chunk of Professor Taft's lecture about writing (juxtapositions and so forth). Check it out!
2002 December 14: Overhauled the organization of the project.
2002 December 12: added a page about the subject of writer's block.
2002 December 12: added a page about creative writing - the nuts and bolts of creative writing.
2002 November 29: Project established. A selection of files added on plotting, characters and so forth.
